Author Interview: Tina Saxon

Posted August 12, 2017 by sarah in Author Interview, Author Spotlight, Giveaway / 2 Comments

I’m a girl who doesn’t mind getting dirty but also loves to be pampered. It’s not uncommon to find me in the garage cutting wood to make a bookshelf or painting a new room because I’m bored with the old color. I have more power tools than most men on my street. The only thing I’m not allowed to have is a sharp knife and an avocado. A trip to the ER, a nerve repair surgery, two sets of stitches and a forever scar … I’m okay with that rule. Did you know they make little gadgets for avocado’s? Neither did I. Words of advice, don’t try and pop the seed out with a knife.

In between being a wife and a mom to two active kids, I love girl’s nights, laying in bed with a good book, football Sundays, drinking a fruity cocktail – with lots of cherries – and being in the sun. People who don’t know me see me as quiet and shy. I’m more reserved with a wild side I keep hidden until it’s appropriate to unleash.

When I tell people I’ve written books, the main question I receive is “Are they children’s books?” It makes me laugh every time. My books are about sexy alpha males and beautiful strong-willed women, with lots of sex. Definitely not children’s books.

It’s fate that led us to each other.
It’s fate that we can’t be together.

When something bad happens, you never hear anyone say, “It must be fate.” Yet fate was to blame for me being home to witness my mother’s murder. Fate paved the road my life was destined to take that tragic day. And that road led me directly to him.

We were never meant to be. Just a chance encounter with a bad boy who shocked my heart into submission.

Until fate pushed me down that road and led me to him again. Our paths didn’t just cross, they collided.

I need to fight the secrets from my past. He’s just fighting for me. Can two people destined to meet survive the devastation fate set in motion?

Welcome to my life.
Fate hates me.

Fate Hates is book one from the Twist of Fate series. This book ends on a cliffhanger, but book two – Fate Heals, comes out in June and book three – Fate Loves, comes out in July.

Fate has forced me down a twisted path. When I think it can’t get any worse, it reminds me that it can, pushing me into a thick, thorny maze and leaves deep, irrevocable scars.

My will to fight has taken hit after hit, that burnt-out fire leaving only embers to scorch those closest to me. My fears and demons rage inside me, destroying everything … including the man who loves me more than anything.

A hidden surprise and new danger brings Aiden back into my life, and he’s just as cocky and gorgeous as when we first met. My body jolts back to life the second we lock eyes, but I’m not ready for those sparks to fly. Can we put aside our feelings and work together to find a killer before it’s too late?

Will Fate allow me enough time to heal and glue back the pieces of my life before it decides I need more excitement? No matter what it throws my way, I’ll survive. Right?

Disclaimer – Novel is for 18+ years old as it contains violence and graphic sexual content. There are possible trigger points in this book.

I got to meet Tina in July in Sulpher Springs, Texas. She’s in the blue and I’m on the end in the brown shirt.

What are you reading right now?
I wish I could read something right now! I’ve been too busy writing my next book. My best friend and I usually read the same book and discuss. Let’s just say she’s hating that she can’t talk about any of the books she has loved. She has a pile waiting for me. The Player Duet by K. Bromberg will be the first ones I read. LOVE her books!

What do you love about writing?
Bringing life to the characters. Getting in their head and imagining what they are thinking and doing. I really love when the story starts writing itself. In Fate Hates, half the things that happened, I hadn’t planned in the beginning. I felt like I was just along for the ride and loved every minute of it.

Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Not at all. I was a financial Analyst before I retired to stay home with kids. I’m a number person, not a grammar person. But I have a big imagination and I’ve always had the mindset that you can do anything you put your mind to as long as you give 100%. I LOVE to read, especially romantic suspense. One day a story came to me and I just started writing. My words brought Addison to life and we told her story. Getting back to me not being a grammar person (because really, I’m horrible when it comes to where comma’s should/shouldn’t be) so I hired a great editor and proofreader to make sure my story was the best it could be.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve researched?
I always joke about this. If something ever happens to my husband, I’m going to be the first they come talk to based on my research. A lot of it I can’t disclose because it’s in the book, and since my books are romantic suspense, you don’t want me to spoil it for you. But here is a funny one. I researched if chickens actually hatched eggs from their butt (I swear that was research for the book). Seriously, who freaking knew that? I sure as hell didn’t! 100% city girl here.

Name the author that you would love to have a one on one with? Dead or Alive.
That’s so hard. Just one? It would probably have to be Nora Roberts, aka J.D. Robb. I’m a huge fan of the In Death series. It was that series that made me want to read again. Love me some Roarke! I’m also a fan of badass heroine’s.

Anything exciting coming up for being an author?
I’m doing my first Book Signing event in Destin, FL next month at the BOBASEDESTIN17 on September 9th. If you’re there, come find me!

When is your next book due out?
Next month! Book three in the Twist of Fate series, Fate Loves will be released. This is the final book in the series. I’m not sure of the date yet, but keep a watch out for it.

I’m a senior citizen and I loved Tina’s books. I’ve read the first 2 books and I’m waiting patiently for the 3rd one. May have to read the 2nd one again (which I did with the first) to get caught up before I read the 3rd one. I hope she continues on her journey of writing romance novels, my favorite.
