Cara is having one heck of a summer. Her boyfriend dies, she a suspect in a murder investigation, she loses her best friends, she finds out her family has lied to her for years, she finds love and she pulled into a maniacs web. This is a lot to take in for just one summer.
The main character, Cara, is easy to relate to. Cara is trying to find herself throughout the book. First, who she thought she wanted to be and then, who she actually is. Cara goes through so much turmoil due to all of the things that happen around her but she learns from each of these situations. I like how she progressed from someone who seemed fake to someone real.
I liked the mystery within this book and although I had inkling of who was behind the conflict I was surprised when it all revealed itself. I wasn’t suspecting who it was. It definitely made me empathize with Elyse. I would really like to know more of her story.
Overall, the pacing was good and kept my attention. The descriptions of the surroundings were good which made it to visualize things.
I highly recommend this book if you like young adult mysteries.
Author Bio:
Katlyn Duncan was born and raised in a small town in western Massachusetts. Her overactive imagination involved invisible friends, wanting to be a Disney Princess and making up her own stories. Her bibliophile mom always encouraged her love of reading and that stayed with her ever since. Even though she works full time in the medical field Katlyn has always made time for books, whether she is reading or writing them.
Katlyn now lives in southern Connecticut with her husband and adorable Wheaten Terrier and she is thrilled to finally share her stories with the world.
