New Release for February 18th, 2013

Alex Cross, Run (Alex Cross #20)
by James
Patterson
Kill Alex Cross was “Patterson at the top of his
game” (
Washington
Post
). Alex Cross, Run is even better.

DON’T LOOK, ALEX CROSS

Top plastic surgeon Elijah Creem is renowned for
his skills in the operating room, and for his wild, no-expense-spared
“industry parties,” bringing in underage exotic dancers and models
for nights of drugs, champagne, and uninhibited sex. That is, until Detective
Alex Cross busts one of Creem’s lavish soirees and ruins his fun. Now Creem is
willing to do anything to avoid going to jail.

DON’T THINK, ALEX CROSS

But Alex doesn’t have time to dwell on that case.
A beautiful woman has been found murdered in her car, a lock of her hair
viciously ripped off. Then a second woman is found hanging from a sixth-floor
window with a brutal scar slashed across her stomach. When a third mutilated
body is discovered, rumors of three serial killers on the loose send Washington
D.C. into an all-out frenzy.

JUST RUN

Alex is under so much pressure to solve these
three grim cases that he hasn’t noticed that someone else investigating him-someone so
obsessed and so twisted that they’ll do anything-ANYTHING- to get the vengeance
they require. Alex
Cross, Run
 is James Patterson’s most unrelenting
story yet-a white-hot, sensational thrill ride with the most extreme and
gripping characters Patterson has ever brought to life.

Priestess, beautiful young woman to powerful seductress, Neferet’s journey
begins in NEFERET’S CURSE…

blind demon restored from the pit of darkness. And a girl who has never felt
more broken.
Brielle
sees the world as it really is: a place where the Celestial exists side by side
with human reality. But in the aftermath of a supernatural showdown, her life

overprotective father has started drinking again. And he’s dating a much
younger woman who makes Brielle’s skin crawl. Haunting nightmares invade
Brielle’s sleep, and flashes of Celestial vision keep her off kilter.
What
she doesn’t know is that she’s been targeted. The Prince of Darkness himself
has heard of the boy with healing in his hands and of the girl who sees through
the Terrestrial Veil.
Brielle

terror down on the town of Stratus. She must master the weapons she’s been
given. She must fight.
But
can she fly with broken wings?

Two
sisters, bound by impossible choices, are determined to protect each other—no
matter the cost.
James’s
frozen face melts into a smile. “Do you want to know the trick to getting
in trouble under the watchful eye of a psychic?”
I
think of the nailed-shut windows. I think of Clarice. I think of the two, the
two, the two who are now zero. Tap tap. “Yes, I absolutely do.”
“Don’t
plan it. Don’t even think about it. The second you get an inkling of what you
could do, do it then. Never plan anything ahead of time. Always go on pure
instinct.”
I
smile. “I think I can do that.”

It began on Freak Day—that day no one
could explain, when strangers and family members alike went crazy and started
biting one another. Some thought the outbreak was caused by a flu shot, others
that it was a diet drug gone terribly wrong. All anyone knew is that once you
were bitten and went to sleep, you woke up a freak.

The Sound of Broken Glass (Duncan
Kincaid & Gemma James #15)
by Deborah
Crombie
In
the past . . .
On
a blisteringly hot August afternoon in Crystal Palace, once home to the
tragically destroyed Great Exhibition, a solitary thirteen-year-old boy meets
his next-door neighbor, a recently widowed young teacher hoping to make a new
start in the tight-knit South London community. Drawn together by loneliness,
the unlikely pair forms a deep connection that ends in a shattering act of
betrayal.
In
the present . . .
On
a cold January morning in London, Detective Inspector Gemma James is back on
the job now that her husband, Detective Superintendent Duncan Kincaid, is at
home to care for their three-year-old foster daughter. Assigned to lead a
Murder Investigation Team in South London, she’s assisted by her trusted
colleague, newly promoted Detective Sergeant Melody Talbot. Their first case: a
crime scene at a seedy hotel in Crystal Palace. The victim: a well-respected
barrister, found naked, trussed, and apparently strangled. Is it an unsavory
accident or murder? In either case, he was not alone, and Gemma’s team must
find his companion—a search that takes them into unexpected corners and forces
them to contemplate unsettling truths about the weaknesses and passions that
lead to murder. Ultimately, they will begin to question everything they think
they know about their world and those they trust most.

The Soundtrack of My Life by Clive Davis
In this star-studded autobiography,
Clive Davis shares a personal, candid look into his remarkable life and the
last fifty years of popular music as only a true insider can.
In the history of popular music, no one looms as large as
Clive Davis. His career has spanned more than forty years, and he has
discovered, signed, or worked with a staggering array of artists: Whitney
Houston, Janis Joplin, Simon and Garfunkel, Barry Manilow, Patti Smith, Lou
Reed, Dionne Warwick, Carlos Santana, The Grateful Dead, Alicia Keys, Kelly
Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, and Aretha Franklin, to name a few. He has been
inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Lifetime Achievement
Grammy, and hosted the world’s highest profile parties.
In this fully illustrated, personal account, Davis tells
all, from becoming an orphan in high school and getting through college and law
school on scholarships, to being falsely accused of embezzlement and starting
up his own record company, J Records. His wealth of experience offers valuable
insight into the evolution of the music business over the past half-century and
into the future.
Told with Davis’s unmatched wit, frankness, and style, The
Soundtrack of My Life
 exposes a trove of never-before-heard
stories—some hilarious, others tragic, all revealing—that will captivate and
inspire all music lovers.

Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan
On
April 21, 2008, Steven “Crash” Crashinsky saved more than a thousand
people when he stopped his classmate David Burnett from taking their high
school hostage armed with assault weapons and high-powered explosives. You
likely already know what came after for Crash: the nationwide notoriety, the
college recruitment, and, of course, the book deal. What you might not know is
what came before: a story of two teens whose lives have been inextricably
linked since grade school, who were destined, some say, to meet that day in the
teachers’ lounge of Meadows High. And what you definitely don’t know are the
words that Burn whispered to Crash right as the siege was ending, a secret that
Crash has never revealed.
Until
now.
Michael
Hassan’s shattering novel is a tale of first love and first hate, the story of
two high school seniors and the morning that changed their lives forever. It’s
a portrait of the modern American teenage male, in all his brash,
disillusioned, oversexed, schizophrenic, drunk, nihilistic, hopeful,
ADHD-diagnosed glory. And it’s a powerful meditation on how normal it is to be
screwed up, and how screwed up it is to be normal.

There’s always a price to pay for
love. The second book of an all-new arc in the New York Times bestselling
Kissed by an Angel series!
Ivy should be ecstatic that her formerly dead boyfriend
Tristan is back on earth with her, but the life of a fallen angel is never
easy. Tristan has been cast down in the body of a murderer, and the police are
after him. Now, there’s only one way that he and Ivy can be together: They must
clear him of the murder.
But when it becomes clear that there are darker forces at
work—that Tristan and Ivy are still paying the price for Ivy’s miraculous
survival of the car crash—the star-crossed lovers have more at stake than ever
before. And one of them may not be alive much longer….
After her promotion from law firm Runner to Investigator,
Kathleen Turner is learning the ropes of her new job from none other than
assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon, a situation her boyfriend Blane Kirk is none too
happy about. But the lessons with Kathleen take a back seat when Kade becomes a
target. Previously untouchable, his enemies now know of the chink in his armor
– his brother’s girlfriend.
And Kade’s not the only thing coming between Kathleen and
Blane. From Blane’s inexplicable defense of a man guilty of a horrible crime,
to a mysterious stranger from Kathleen’s past, to Kathleen’ risky investigation
into human traffickers, the obstacles mount against a relationship that’s just
begun to find trust again.
While Blane considers a job offer that would take him back
to the front lines in the war on terror, Kathleen is determined to pursue her
new career, with or without his approval. Unfortunately, her current case is
far more dangerous than anyone knows. Someone close to Blane will go to extreme
lengths to split them up, lengths that may prove worse than death for Kathleen.
Kathleen, Blane and Kade must atone for the sins of the past
and the present. The fallout will force Kathleen to a turning point…in her
career, and her life.

When
female wolf shifter Taryn Warner first encounters Trey Coleman, an alpha male
wolf shifter with a dangerous reputation, she’s determined to resist his
charms. After all, Trey—who was only fourteen when he defeated his own father
in a duel, winning the right to be alpha of his pack—can’t have anything to
offer the talented healer besides trouble, or so she thinks. Taryn finds
herself drawn in by Trey’s forceful demeanor and arctic-blue eyes, and she
eventually agrees to enter an uneasy alliance with him. If the two succeed in
convincing their respective packs that they’ve chosen each other as mates, Trey
will win valuable political allies, while Taryn will escape an odious arranged
mating.
But
there are a lot of potential pitfalls to this plan—including the very real
possibility that the wolf shifters, overwhelmed by their growing attraction to
each other, will be unable to maintain the clear heads needed to pull off the
deception.
