Hello Forever by Sarina Bowen
Released July 14th, 2017
Genre: Gay Romance
One basketball game changes two lives forever.
When they were only teenagers, Axel and Caxton were caught making out in the woods at church camp. And afterward, Cax had disappeared from all the youth group activities.
Six years later, Axel is astonished to spot his first love’s face in the crowd of a college basketball game he’s watching on TV—at a school which has just offered him a job. It’s a thousand miles away, in a tiny rural town. But suddenly, he can’t wait to get there.
Cax can’t believe his eyes when Axel appears in the same Massachusetts town where he now lives. And he’s still just as drawn to Axel as ever. But he can’t let himself go there again, because loving Axel will mean giving up everything else he holds dear.
Both men have so much to lose. But as far as their love is concerned, it’s Hello Forever.
Hello Forever was previously published as It’s Never Over. This is a stand-alone novel with no cliffhangers. Readers of Goodbye Paradise will get to check in on Caleb and Josh and their clan.
Sarina Bowen has quickly elevated to one of by “drop everything and read” authors. And I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to read both Goodbye Forever and the latest, Hello Forever. I was not disappointed with it either. My only disappointment is with myself and how quickly I finished it. I simply must learn a way to prolong the reading of a good book.
Hello Forever features Axel and Cax, once friends who bonded over church youth camp and a love of basketball – who are forced to sever their friendship as teens. But neither one has forgotten the other. Axel is a recent college graduate looking to begin his career in marketing. While trying to make a decision on what path to follow, he stumbles on game footage from a Barmuth University basketball game, and who should he happen to see in the stands? None other than his long lost friend, Cax. Immediately, Axel has his answer on which job opportunity he should follow – and follow his heart to Cax.
This is a beautiful story of friendship first and foremost. The way in which Axel and Cax are able to reconnect. They also have several difficulties to overcome as well.
“In some ways, he and I had the most confusing relationship in the world. We were close friends who didn’t spend time together. We were lovers who rarely got even a kiss. We had a long history together with a big gap in the middle. In short, we were a tangle of disasters. But there was nobody I’d ever felt so close to.”
While Axel is fully forthcoming with his sexual orientation, Cax is less so; and with good reason. Cax has not been presented with the most supportive of families and has kept his true desires hidden. A true story of love conquers all, Hello Forever is definitely worth the time investment.
